Import Trades Using AI and Ask Contextual Questions
September 25, 2026
Introduction
Logging a wheel trade should not mean retyping every strike and premium from a broker confirmation screen. And when you open the dashboard, you should not have to dig through filters just to answer a simple question about what expires this week.
OptionsWheelTrader now includes two focused AI features for those moments: screenshot trade import and Ask.
Neither feature is a free-form chatbot. Both are built for specific jobs, with review and limits you can see.
Import a trade from a screenshot
On New trade, next to Quick entry, open the camera control. On Roll trade, use Import image.
- Ensure the brokerage account is correct (double-click the account badge to change it).
- Paste an image or upload a PNG, JPEG, or WebP (max 5 MB).
- Extract trades. The app lists every leg it finds, marks roll pairs (BTC + STO, same ticker, same day), and shows whether a matching trade already exists.
- Select one row (a single trade or one roll set) and Import selected.
- Review the information populated in the New or Roll form, then Save. Nothing is saved until you confirm.
Duplicate checks use account, ticker, call/put, strike, expiry, side, trade date, and quantity. Premium is ignored for matching because OCR often differs by a few cents. A softer “similar” flag appears when only quantity differs.
For rolls, import opens the roll flow only when an open trade matches the BTC leg. If there is no open position to roll, you get a clear error instead of a fake roll.
Ask: canned questions on key screens
Ask appears on Dashboard, Trades, New trade, Roll, and Portfolio. Open it, pick a pre-defined question, and read the answer in the panel.
Answers use your live accounts, holdings, and trades, plus light market context already in the app (quotes, Greeks, DTE where available). Optional deep links can take you to a related screen. Ask never creates or edits trades.
Free-text chat is intentionally not included at this time. That keeps cost, safety, and answers predictable. Once we feel we have a good balance, we will consider adding it.
Quotas by plan
Every tier can try AI. Monthly caps scale with Starter, Active, and Pro (trial uses Pro caps). When you hit a limit, the controls stay visible with a path to Billing.
Usage metadata appears in Activity. Screenshots are not stored after the request.
What AI does not do
- It does not place broker orders.
- It does not auto-save trades.
- It does not give personalized “buy this / sell that” advice.
- It does not replace your review of strikes, dates, and premiums.
